Motorola DROID (Verizon Wireless)
The Motorola DROID is the first Verizon phone based on the Google Android 2.0 platform. This device offers some highly advanced features, like its high-resolution, 3.7″ display that looks simply amazing, or the advanced Arm Cortex A8 CPU, clocked at 550MHz that makes Android perform they way it’s supposed to. Besides its advanced internal components, a feature that stands out from other smartphones, is its built-in QWERTY keyboard, that feels and looks great.
Its 5 megapixel camera is a bit of a disappointment; while impressively good for videos, it’s not that good when it comes to photos, it’s not only slow to focus and take pictures, but the actual picture quality is not great. I believe this is more of a software problem than a hardware issue, hopefully this will be solved in future software updates.
The built-in GPS receiver works extremely well with turn-by-turn directions that swimmingly integrates with Google Maps, and that’s not all; the DROID ships with a car mount that boots the phone in navigation mode.

Web browsing on this phone is sweet, and while it still doesn’t offer flash support, it does have an app for streaming YouTube videos.
Motorola has bundled this phone really well; besides the aforementioned car mount for nav mode, it also included a dock, for using your phone as a nightstand and a whooping 16GB MicroSD card; for storing thousands of photos, mp3s and video files.

After many years of unreliable phones from Motorola, it seems they got it right this time, the DROID is a great phone that can truly compete with Apple’s iPhone. This is also the best Android phone in today’s market. If you are a Verizon customer, you can’t go wrong with this phone.
