Stamina 1205 Precision Rower

The Stamina 1205 Precision rower is a less expensive rower which uses a deluxe ball-bearing rolling system and hydraulic cylinder action with tension control to operate. It is a quite sturdy and durable piece of machinery, one which will not rock as you row. It is also very quiet and does not make the squeaking noises often emitted by other rowing machines, at first. This Stamina model is not foldable or compact, however, which means you will have to make room for it in your home and leave it wherever you place it.

The seat is highly padded, the hand grips are foam and the footplates pivot to make for a more comfortable overall workout experience. This is certainly a plus, considering the fact that many rowing machines can be quite uncomfortable and poorly padded.

The machine’s monitor tracks the speed at which you are rowing, the distance you have rowed, how many strokes you have made, how many calories you have burned. This monitor, however, can be slightly inaccurate.

The primary problem with this rowing machine is that it is not long-lasting. Many of the parts are prone to breakage and will have to be replaced. The rowing machine will also need oiling after a period of time as it begins to squeak.

Features:

  • Precision rowing machine with deluxe ball-bearing rolling system
  • Smooth hydraulic cylinder action with adjustable tension controls
  • Multifunction fitness monitor tracks speed, distance, strokes, and more
  • Thick padded seat and pivoting footplates for maximum comfort
  • Measures 32.5 x 27.75 x 48 inches (W x H x D); weighs 47 pounds

Pros:

  • Inexpensive
  • Sturdy
  • Comfortable
  • Quiet (at first, then the machine will require oiling)
  • Easy to adjust resistance levels
  • Comes with rollers (though they are not durable)

Cons:

  • Not compact or foldable for storage
  • Doesn’t have very clear instructions
  • Not very durable for long term use (bolts come lose, rollers crack and get dirty, the resistance knobs do not stay in place, shock absorbers are prone to breaking)

Summary:

This machine is good for someone who wants to try out a rowing machine to see if they would like a more expensive model later. Stamina itself makes better quality rowers for long-term use though. It is inexpensive and comfortable, so it will be a good first-time, short term rower for those not sure if rowing is the workout for them.
